My Love of Science Fiction

Why do I love Science Fiction? That is a question I have been asked my whole life. I think it had to do with one of the first television shows I would watch with my father, who wasn't a Science Fiction fan but a man who knew what he liked. That show was Gerry Anderson's "Stingray" and then I discovered Irwin Allen's "Lost in Space." Which for a boy of six or seven years of age, I thought these were great adventure stories. Once I started to grow up I discovered the writings of Arthur C. Clark and Robert Heinlein.

When I entered High School I found there were other folks like me. On orientation my Freshman year we were given a list of clubs and organizations taht we were able to join. One of those clubs was the "Science Fiction Club", this was a club I joined with enthusiasm. It was here I discovered the worlds of Arrakis and Ringworld. The races of the Pierson's Puppeteers and the Kzinti. By my Junior year we were able to take English Electives. One of the Classes was Science Fiction and Fantasy. I jumped at the chance to take this class as it was taught by one of my favorite teachers. Here I discovered Michael Crichton and Andre Norton.

As time went on I discovered old Science Fiction Seriels and movies. I thought this would be a great spot to discuss these things and more. Comment if you want.
